Hastelloy X is a nickel alloy with high temperature characteristics and pronounced ability to stand high rates of oxidation. Hastelloy X Round Bars are one of the shapes that are favourable in many applications owing to its different forms.
Composition and Properties: Nickel is the major constituent of Hastelloy X along with chromium, iron, and molybdenum with a trace content of cobalt and tungsten. Alloying with Si and Mo combined with the high volume fraction of point defence gives high corrosion and oxidation resistance along with high temperature strength. That allows using this alloy when other materials are unable to stay stable due to high temperatures with the given parameters of mechanical characteristics.

High-Temperature Applications: One of the properties that make Hastelloy X stand out is the ability to work well at high operating temperatures making it necessary to be applied on automotive aerospace applications and energy equipment such as gas turbine engines, other industrial furnace components and equipment. This last stage for the alloy means that it has the ability to handle temperatures up to 2200°F (1204°C) and at such temperature it remains strong and resistant to corrosion.
Corrosion Resistance: Hastelloy X Bars have very high reduction and Oxidation corrosion resisting properties. This is especially used in environments with high chloride content since it exhibits excellent immunity to chloride stress corrosion cracking. Hence, it is appropriate for use in chemical processing, petrochemical industries, and marine settings.
Applications: Using Hastelloy wires a variety of alloys can be produced which are widely used in applications where high strength levels oxidation and corrosion properties are of necessity. These bars come in different diameters and length to ensure that it provides for the diverse demands of the various sectors. This makes them easy to machine or fabricate at the same time it is easy to work them into different components.
Machinability: However, Hasting X Bar is considered to be very strong and hard and although it is ideal in many applications, it may be a little difficult to be machined. Therefore, precision instruments, correct speeds and feed rates, and appropriate coolants and cutting fluids are crucial for producing the best results in the process. Nevertheless, its inability to undergo the same machining operations as the stainless steel is worth the benefits in terms of its performance in high performance applications.
